Expectation
1. A limit referring to the quantity of you intend to gain if you on average made a certain play. For example, suppose that you put $10 in a pot $50 at the aspiration with a hand which you will make to 25% time, and it will gain each time you done it. Three out of four times, you made not your aspiration, and lose $10 each times for a total of $30. The fourth time, you will make your aspiration, gaining $50. Your total profit above these four average hands is $50-$30 = $20, an average of $5 per hand. Of this fact of calling the $10 a positive hope of $5 has.
